Flytoget, the Airport Express Train is the fastest, most effective and most environmentally friendly means of transportation to and from Oslo Airport - Gardermoen. The total collective share lies above 60% and Flytoget, the Airport Express Train is responsible for approximately 37% of this percentage. Tokyo has, with its 83% the highest collective share to and from airports Internationally, but if we only consider trains, it is Oslo and Flytoget, the Airport Express Train which have the highest market share at present.

Looking at society’s economic and environmental circumstances today, the Norwegian Government has made it a primary target to secure Flytoget, the Airport Express Train’s strong position as transportation to and from Oslo Airport - Gardermoen.

• High market values are the most important environmental goal. The more people who use Flytoget, the Airport Express Train to and from Oslo Airport - Gardermoen, the bigger the environmental profit will be for the society.
• Flytoget, the Airport Express Train must satisfy the customer’s needs with as little environmental strain as possible.
• Flytoget, the Airport Express Train will take responsibility for the society in a serious manner through their environmental work. The environment, human relations and economy will be dealt with in relation to each other.

• Low energy consumption in relation to speed. The energy consumption was reduced with 15% from 2006 to 2008.
• From 1.july 2007 the trains run exclusively on certified clean energy
• Low noise levels
• Environmentally adjusted waste disposal.
• The trains have a long technical operating time.
• 98% of all materials can be recycled.
• No air pollution.

Overall environmental involvement

• New electric metres, which can be read on a long distance line.
• Expanded use of electrical breaks.
• Electricity back feed.
• Computer run electricity savings when the trains are parked.
• Adaptation for economical motoring.
• New technical solutions for electricity savings will carry into effect shortly, as a part of the Energi 2008 project.
• Flytoget, the Airport Express Train will satisfy all relevant laws and specifications, prevent contamination and work towards events, which can cause permanent effects on the outer environment (non-injury mentality).
• Flytoget, the Airport Express Train is to follow all principles in the Environmental Control Board standard ISO 14001, has identified, and will follow all the important environmental aspects concerning the Enterprise, in order for it to be a resource as effective as possible and to prevent as little environmental damage as possible.
• The market value and the depletion of resources are handled with a systematic follow-up.
• 85% of all Flytoget Airport Express Train staff use collective transportation as their means of travelling to and from work.
